Ashley Severance is the Owner & Broker-In-Charge of Atlantic Properties of the Lowcountry, a residential real estate company established in 2005 with a niche in Charleston’s historic and charming properties. A native of Florida and bilingual, Ashley graduated from Furman University with a double major in Business Administration and Spanish, while living out her childhood dream of playing Division I tennis.
Prior to working in real estate, Ashley enjoyed a nine-year career with Eli Lilly and Company. Here she received numerous top national sales and marketing awards and advanced as the youngest district sales manager in the history of the company. She loved working with people, but knew her true calling fell elsewhere.
How It Started: Having lived in Madrid, Boston, New York, and spending much time in European cities, Ashley developed an appreciation of historic properties and beautiful real estate. This interest quickly evolved from a hobby to a profession. After moving to Charleston, she knew she was meant to help others find the perfect home. To offer buyers and sellers of real estate a wonderful, concierge-style experience, Atlantic Properties of the Lowcountry was founded. She delights in understanding her clients’ needs and truly enjoys the hunt to find beautiful properties.
Home & Family: Ashley and her husband, Matt, have four children and reside on Daniel Island. Prior to the move to Daniel Island, she and her husband purchased and restored a home in Downtown Charleston, located on Legare Street. Built in 1870, this home had character and timeless style. They lived there happily for ten years. It was this chapter that further developed her unmatched love for Charleston and its architecture. Like many of her real estate clients, she enjoys spending time outdoors, appreciating the beautiful Lowcountry. She especially likes running, reading, entertaining, and being with her family and friends.
Community: Ashley served on the Children’s Museum board for two years, the Roper St. Francis Gala Committee for ten years, the Historic Charleston Foundation and Preservation Society Tour of Homes for five years, and the City of Charleston Recreation Commission. She also founded LTP Scholars, a private schooling option for teens focused on both academics and athletics.
Favorite part about Charleston: "Everything. It is a sophisticated historic city on the water with good weather, excellent food, beaches, and beautiful lowcountry marsh scenes."
If you had to eat at the same restaurant every night, where would you eat and why: "Sermet’s Courtyard because it combines many things I love; fresh local seafood, Italian dishes, and eating outdoors in a quaint courtyard. Often there is a guitarist playing outdoors which gives a feeling of being in an Italian al fresco café.
Describe yourself in one sentence: "An on-the-go pleaser and outdoors lover, who craves daily exercise and has immense appreciation for beautiful homes and kind people."
